Afternoon delight.

Yesterday was just that, an afternoon delight. Not only did I get to spend a delightful afternoon with one Minty of pepperknit fame, but I also got to spend far too much of my afternoon watching the absolute best show ever to be broadcast on television, which, for 30 minutes every week, while it was on air, miraculously transformed said idiot box into a very, very clever and funny box, which happened to include one of my favorite episodes, Afternoon Delight. (For your very own slice of afternoon delight, go here). Minty met me right outside my front door (now that's service!) and then we went to lunch at the 10th Street Pour House, one of my favorite little brunch spots just a few blocks from me. Deelish! Good food and great company! And whoops, there I go posting photos of myself, again. So much for shy anonymity Philistiny mystery and intrigue.

Minty's company, of course, was the primary source for my delight, but the delicious, delicious gelato that we consumed post-lunch at my favorite Philly gelateria, Capogiro, was another derivation of pure afternoon pleasure. My lust for gelato treats has been particularly strong lately, as was made clear by the shot of Koigu gelato that appeared in my last post. But hurrah! I was able to consume actual gelato, made doubly good by Minty's visit! And, seriously, if you ever find yourself in Philly, you would be doing yourself an immense disservice if you didn't stop by Capogiro while you were here. It's the Loop of Philadelphia frozen treats.

Thanks, Minty, for our wonderful first date*!

*To avoid any unnecessary confusion, Minty and I had an interesting conversation in which we compared knitblogger meet-ups to first dates... by the end of our meet-up we concluded that we both had an excellent first date.

Afternoon Delight, so classic! Oh how I miss Arrested Development...it was truly the best comedy to come along in years. So dry, and so hilarious! Darn you Fox!!!

And I'm glad you and Minty's first date went well, were there any awkward moments? :) I know no first date (romantically speaking) is complete for me without an awkward moment such as a goodbye hug or something...

I still don't quite know what to think about this... "first date" business... but whilst I mull it over, here is another amazingly funny set of clips from Afternoon Delight, which I think was posted before on this very blog!

Coincidentally, I attended a Saturday afternoon blogger-meet too - and we concluded that it was far more stressful than a first date, but much, much nicer!
You both look great in the photo - fab glasses.

I recently discovered Arrested Development, and I heart! I tend to catch on to shows after they go off the air, boo. Good thing for reruns and tivo.

You two? So cute!

Wait, are there other Philly gelaterias that I should know about? I mean, Capogiro is amazing, but still...

1. I am going to have "Afternoon Delight," the song, in my head for the rest of the night now.

2. How did we not discuss Arrested Development!? I could have gone on and on and on. My favorite joke of that show was in the first ep, and I laughed about it for a solid 10 minutes. ("What do I always say is the most important thing. The thing that comes before everything else." / "Breakfast?" / "No! Family.")

3. I would so totally go on a second date with you, and hope you call :)

Arrested Development AND Capogiro? That might be one of the best pairings ever. AD is one of my all-time favorite shows. It's such genius. (Damn you Fox for canceling!)

Next time I come to Philly, we should totally hang out.

Oh I could watch Arrested Development for DAYS and not get bored.

Your date looks like it was too much fun. Capogiro AND the Pour House?! That is a wonderful day of food right there.

It is TOTALLY like a first date, except that you always have a guaranteed conversation fallback. Unlike most of my actual first dates, which just end in stony silence.

Oh, y'all look so damn cute on your knitting date. My husband was calling MDSW Yarn Prom for Ann and me, so I think there is a certain passion that knitters have for each other.

Wish I could have been there, but after breakfast, then comes family!

"Like the guy in the $4000 suit is going to hold the elevator for you. C'mon!" I love AD. My brother bought me all 3 seasons on DVD last Christmas because I was so bummed the show was canceled. Now you've got that song stuck in my head.
